Hey Zach,

Basic reason is that a lot of companies ended up settling on very long
group names/descriptions, which are harder to digest. By choosing an ID,
which often matches the ID they're familiar with from a mailing list or IRC
channel, it's easy to see at a glance what group is being referred to. We
have it this way nearly everywhere for consistency.

That said, it'd probably make sense to use the display name for things like
the dashboard title. I'm open to that. Mind filing a feature request on the
bug tracker?
