In addition to being an overcomplicated solution to work around a
non-technical problem (essentially: lying to ourselves), I fail to see
how that would solve the issue: the dependency freeze was on November
3rd :-?

Can't this go in as a bugfix for the a "recession hit us too and we
need money" critical bug?
