I just had a look again. A value of 0 renders a completely black screen. With a 
value of 1 I can start seeing shapes.
Most of the time I work with a brightness between 100 and 200. Since the 
functions key won't go that far, I use the prompt line. I thought that a 
solution to my question would be something like editing a text configuration 
file. That's why I asked. But it seems it is a bit more complicated than that.
