Evince is not perfect for reading Google (e)books. See attachments in which Evince makes parts of the text completely disappear, wheras Foxit renders them well. Examples taken from: http://books.google.com/ebooks?id=tMo6AAAAcAAJ&printsec=frontcover&output=reader
