Peter, the shotwell.gdb file you attached shows that the Flash plugin has not actually been uninstalled, since /home/thiemann/.mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so appears prominently in the stack trace. That also confirms that Flash is actually the problem here. So this in fact http://trac.yorba.org/ticket/2776, which has been fixed in the Shotwell trunk: Shotwell now disables plugins (such as Flash) when it instantiates WebKit. So I'm pretty confident you won't see this in the upcoming Shotwell 0.8 release.
