Brand new Dell Vostro 3700 running Maverick, fully charged battery, seeing the same behavior - it wants to hibernate as soon as I unplug. Using the workaround, when I unplug it still says "5 minutes of power left" (but at least does not hibernate), then within a few seconds it updates to tell me I have 2 hours 45 minutes of power. This looks really sloppy and confusing.
