FWIW, I can confirm that downgrading solved the problem. You guys have spent a lot of time to hunt down this bug. I suspect that there were not too many commits between the two versions. How could you not be able to bisect it? Well, if you couldn't even reproduce it then it's understandable. This one must be really nasty...
