+1 to including support for search responses.

In addition to Scott's example about a (perhaps) ill-intentioned client.  
Including support for search provides clarity for server operators.

    Not having support for redacting search results could provide a back-door 
workaround that allows a client to avoid redaction completely. I think it 
should be included.
