We've been using the NetGear GA620 1000Base SX for some time (acenic driver). They haven't given us any problems and were, IIRC, middle of the pack as far as cost goes. The 3Com cards were way more and the SysKonnect cards a little less. Don't know if they still make the GA620, so be sure the newer model is supported.
