Hi, Not sure what you mean by "connected". DHCP IP address offers are normally logged in /var/log/messages. There is no other "connection" as such.
Samba has very flexible logging. On my system each machine has a log file with its own (netbios) name. To see currently connected shares, you can view them with SWAT on the status page (from memory). Presumably there is also some command line method, but I've not used it.
