In "//s.o.m.e.i.p/f", you need to provide a valid hostname and not an ip.
1. Add the target computer's netbios name and ip to /etc/samba/lmhosts 2. Use "smbmount //hostname/share /mntpnt -o username=whatever" You should be presented with a password prompt and then the share should be mounted. You aren't planning on accessing this filesystem across the internet are you?
