I already searched the whole web for this problem, but I can't find the solution to my problem. I installed Redhat 6.2, kernel version 2.2.14-5.0 and upgraded this to a new kernel version 2.4.19 and modutils version 2.3.9-6
I followed all steps described in the HOTWO's & I compiled the new kernel. Booted with the new kernel version 2.4.19, but cannot load modules with insmod and the modules configured in /etc/conf.modules:
/etc/conf.modules
alias eth0 8139too
alias eth1 8139too
If i want to load any modules using insmmod, it will say:
insmod: 8139too: no module by that name found
But if I will do thesame command from the directory /lib/modules/2.4.19/kernel/drivers/net where this driver is located it will load. Thesame with the module ipchains.o !!
In the manual files there is something said about the paths defined in MODPATH where he will gets his modules directory from. But I cannot find where to set this environment variable.
Could someone please help me on this. I would be very thankfull !!
Grtz. Ray
