I'd say your best bet is to use a distribution better suited to that purpose
- RH is too big, bein a general purpos distro.

Have a look at e.g. http://old.lwn.net/Distributions/ - it lists some
distros suited for PDA and/or embedded use. You might have more luck with
one of those.
