We've been running Compaq 1850R's without any issues. We transfer about 1GB per day on our main ftp server. It's a single processor P2-450 with (I think) 512MB RAM. It's got a SmartArray in it - the RAID-5 setup is done using the SmartArray software - Linux doesn't know nor care although there are monitoring tools available for Linux to alert you if a drive fails. We've got about 60GB on this guy and it's running not only ftp but also samba and netatalk. > > ML 350 P4 500G of ram Now that's a *lot* of RAM :-) > Dual Processors??? Depends if you really need it and how hard you're going to beat on it. You may want to start with a single processor and then add the 2nd later if you see that you're maxed out. We've got a bunch of other 1850R's for dns, smtp, mrtg, etc. Nice little systems even if they are dated. -- Ed Wilts, Mounds View, MN, USA mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Member #1, Red Hat Community Ambassador Program -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
