Thankyou for your advice Cameron. Only trouble is i am new to Linux and
don't know much about compiling a kernel with SCSI in it. In a worst case
scenario i could always reload Linux from scratch and move the squid.conf
and squidguard.conf, db and log files and give that a shot.

Silly question but is there a utility in x window that appears to work like
Windows Explorer so i can just "click" on the Floppy Drive icon rather then
use the Shell?

Regards,

Greg

Subject: RE: Upgrading Hard disk from IDE to SCSI

There's a (mini?)howto on migrating discs. you can probably do most of
it live, without resorting to Ghost.
Problems are more likely from stuffing up
the boot loader instructions.
Make sure your kernel has SCSI compiled in - not as a module.
Even going from hda to hde can be messy. I managed to mess up the
lilo transition and had to rescue from boot floppy.

If you really want to make it easy, how about just moving the
the heavy traffic to SCSI, and keep a small boot/root filesystem
on the IDE drive. That is probably more efficient than loading everything
on one drive anyway.
