And don't forget gshadow - the group shadow file.  

You'll also want to have a careful look at the password files since a
fresh install of 7.3 will very likely add users and groups that aren't
there in your old 5.1 system.  I don't know if any accounts changed
their uids or gids between releases.  Have a good look at all accounts
with a uid < 500.  Simply restoring your old files may not be good
enough.
