I setup a RH 7.3 machine with stock kernel and a Adaptec 29160 SCSI adapter and powervault tape drive. I try to cat /proc/scsi/scsi and nothing is there, then I run mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind (or any command that calls the tape and the /proc/scsi/scsi file is loaded and the tape is available. Then, after inactivity, the modules are unloaded? This is causing backup failure. Kernel is 2.4.18-3.
