Hello folks ,

I'm just getting started with Linux. ( My pc : a Dual boot ; winXp - Redhat 7.3 ; AMD
ThunderBird 1Ghz )

While configuring Redhat to my needs , I have 2 problems - at this moment :)

1.) I have a 'Guillemot Maxi TV PCI 3' Television Card.
The quality in Win XP sucks big time.
So I hoped Linux would also help me out with this.
I installed xawtv ( with rpm package ); but when I start it and select correct
    settings ( West-Europe , PAL ) not a single channel appears.

So , do I have to install a driver for the BTxxx chip on this card ?
Maybe this is done automatically ; how can I check ?
Or can I maybe modify the frequencies manually - scantv also didn't help ?
    Anybody hints/tips ?

2.) This Pc is also connected to an SMC broadband router.
An extra ( & nice ) feature is the print-server.
Of course Linux support isn't documented very clear from SMC out.
A work around could be to install my printer at another Windows pc ,
and share it with samba. But then this pc has to be powered on all the time.

    Anybody an other suggestion ?
P.S. : I want to print also from X , not only a Line printer.
The printer is an HP 4P Laserjet ( not that I think this matters )

Greetz to you all...
