Check, the 2 YO and the 11 YO go to bed around 8:15ish... they
share the same room, so they go to bed at the same time (for
now).

Um, now that >I'VE< gotten a chance to play.... (cue the holding
a candle under the chin and the "I'm a Tuxaholic line").

Three of the five machines now have Tux installed, since I heard
that; mine, being dual boot, has it both ways (though I think it's
slightly superior in Linux; the graphics seem a tad smoother).
However, on the kids machines, it's not running particularly well
(a Celeron 500 with an S3 Pro Savage 8MB AGP 2x and an ATI Xpert 98
w/8MB AGP 2X on a Cyrix MII 300)

I don't want there systems Dual Boot, for now; there systems aren't
quite powerful enough for good dual boot boxes, IMO.

They have Exceed; my wife and I have Cygwin on the Windows partitions.
One of the boxes runs ONLY Linux, but we don't want to install X
on it. I'm not POSITIVE, but I don't think Tux Racer or any other
OGL software will run over the network properly. Though it is
switched 100MB, I think you'd only get 1-2 FPS, max.

As above, I don't think that'll work.

Baby heard me last night playing Tux Racer at bed time... all she
would say is "Daddy, Pengin! Pengin, Daddy! Want Pengin!" I ended
up having to abandon the game, go in, and find a TOY Penguin for
her to sleep with... I'm gonna check out some of the Tux learning
games for her, since she seems enamored now. Anyone have any
suggestions? (Oh, and ignore the age bit; this kid, at 2, on her
birthday was counting from 1 to 9 (she sometimes remembered 10,
but sometimes it would be "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 8 7 8 9 8" and
knows her ABCs (through U). She's a VERY smart little girl...
she'll be reading by 3 1/2 easy).

So, I guess I can say this... Tux Racer is just too darn good!
