If you have to use 'lsattr' and 'chattr' to fix files, you should also
verify your system binaries.  Start with:
rpm -V util-linux
rpm -V fileutils
rpm -V net-tools

If those don't come out clean, you've probably been hacked.  It's common
for rootkits to make files "immutable" so that they aren't trivially
replaced.
