Getting the kernel is the easy part - you can get it from ftp.redhat.com or any of its mirrors. You can get one from the 7.0 updates tree. However, there are a multitude of packages that have dependencies to the kernel, so you may have yourself a bit of a battle. Depending on your hardware configuration, you may find yourself in a serious bit of grief with the 2.2 kernel - anything that touches hardware could be a problem spot, like USB, XFree, RAID, etc.
I'm guessing that you might find it easier to use a different firewall script than it would be to downgrade to the 2.2 kernel (but I'm not a Linux-based firewall expert, so I'll let others comment on that if that's the approach you want to take). Alternatively, since you just installed 7.2, redo your install with Red Hat 7.0 instead, the latest Red Hat release that has up to date 2.2 kernels. Then, when you're ready for all the 7.2 features and changes, do an upgrade. .../Ed Ed Wilts Mounds View, MN, USA mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Matthew Simpson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, March 16, 2002 12:44 AM Subject: downgrading kernel 2.4.9 to 2.2 series on 7.2 > Hi All, > > I have just installed redhat 7.2 and we use rcf 5.2.1 firewall script > which isn't yet fully compatible with the 2.4 kernel.
