trying service lpd restart results in: [root@dark-lord root]# service lpd restart Stopping lpd: [FAILED] Starting lpd: No Printers Defined [ OK ] trying to print directly to lpr using lpr filename results in: Status Information: sending job 'root@dark-lord+337' to missingprinter@localhost connecting to 'localhost', attempt 1 cannot open connection to localhost - Connection refused Make sure LPD server is running on the server It is beginning to look like there is something very wrong with lpd.
