the is reminds me that when I fo\irst started palying with linux, and was never sure if things were mounted properly or not, I do something like touch /mnt/floppy NOT_MOUNTED so if I did an ls on that dir I'd know immediately that a floppy wasn't mounted. Of course when it was mounted I'd see the contents od the floppy (or nothing).
