ha! well *i* learned something new here (redhat-release): olive(fdech)9% rpm -q xntp3 redhat-release package xntp3 is not installed redhat-release-7.1-1
i updated to ntp V4.1.0 from the tars at http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~ntp/. thanks again to the person who pointed me there. man. the digest of this list is so much easier to sift through since i switched from elm to mutt! :^) --fred > > Ok so I'm wrong again.
