Dominic, On Thursday 07 February 2002 09:54, you said something about: > Hi, > > When I play mpeg files with gtv I always get this error message: > > Xlib: extension "XVideo" missing on display ":0.0". > > What does this means? What should I do to correct this? >
It means that particular extension has not been loaded. This is usually caused by a lack of support for that extension in the current driver for you video card. You could try adding a line in your XF86Config[-4] file to load the module, but that's probably a waste of time. Most of the time the XFree acurately determines which extensions are available. If it spews errors but works...ignore it. If it doesn't work you can try another mpeg player, some others may not require that extension to work. If you are not using the latest version of XFree86, you may want to see if the driver for your card has been updated and if that update includes the support you need. Don't bother with an upgrade until you know it will fix your problem, since the files are huge download. You could also upgrade your video card to something with better support in XF86 or offer some pizza/beer to the maintainer of the drivers for your card to hurry up and get some support. ;) -- Brian Ashe CTO Dee-Web Software Services, LLC.
