The most common reason for this that I've seen is an incorrect sizing for
the swap files.  Did you really read the installation guide and increase the
size of your swap files from what you were using under 6.0?  A reasonably
safe value is twice your memory size, so if your system has 256MB memory,
your swap partition should be at least 512MB.  It's an easy setting to
overlook since your system was obviously working fine before with a smaller
swap size.
