... this is only half the truth ... IIRC I had the same problem around
March this year ... but on another install (on RedHat 6.1):

... it works!! ... thanks a lot, Gordon ... I put 'news' at the end of
the line with the default domains in /etc/hosts, and the starts of
Netscape are now back to what they were before, i.e. the start-up
speed is OK.

I also installed new bind-stuff about an hour ago, but to no avail, as
it seems ...
only after the change in /etc/hosts Netscape started with about the
same speed as before in the last months.

... I'm my own admin here at home, and no, I didn't remove an entry in
/etc/hosts ... <shrug>

Thanks again, Gordon :) ... I'm glad this browser's OK again .. I need
it often.
