NTFS is prolly one of those fstypes where the OS (NT) doesn't have all of the details and functionality of the fs simply laid out like other filesystems. Like.. they may hide stuff inside a file on the fs or something thus causing it to get confusing.. I have no idea really.. just speculation. Remember, NTFS was developed by MS and even if you have write abilities.. don't expect a clean write :)
