I don't use either, but I upgraded everything to ext3. Then, later, I unupgraded the /var partition because the squid cache was getting corrupted (reproducible, predictible, consistent). Except for that, everything else has run perfectly. I may be alone on the squid cache because I have seen no other reports of that problem.
