According to their website that have drivers for it. Let''s do some
comparisons.

ftp://ftp.tekram.com/scsi/390x/Linux/Redhat/Redhat70/readme.txt says that:

 Tekram SCSI adapters:

           (AMD53C974) DC390(T)

           (NCR53C8XX) DC310/DC310U
                       DC390W/DC390U/DC390F
                       DC390U2B/DC390U2W
                       DC390U2D

and

[root@ocelot scsi]# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Linux release 7.2 (Enigma)

as well as

[root@ocelot scsi]# find /lib/modules/ | grep -i NCR53C8XX
/lib/modules/2.4.9-13smporiginal/kernel/drivers/scsi/ncr53c8xx.o
/lib/modules/2.4.9-13custom/kernel/drivers/scsi/ncr53c8xx.o
/lib/modules/2.4.9-13/kernel/drivers/scsi/ncr53c8xx.o
/lib/modules/2.4.9-13debug/kernel/drivers/scsi/ncr53c8xx.o
/lib/modules/2.4.9-13smp/kernel/drivers/scsi/ncr53c8xx.o
[root@ocelot scsi]#

tells me that ncr53c8xx.o exists for a normal (or rather pre-compiled
stock kernel rpm from RedHat). Sorry, I don't know if the cdrom boot.img
has access to this kernel module, but my guess is that it does. I had
access to this card for about a day and a half, but didn't get a chance to
try it out. Sadly it was destined for an NT server.
