You're not by any chance exporting the cdrom as NFS directory? That in
conjunction with using autofs to automount the cdrom has once stopped me
from unmounting/ejecting CD-ROMs on a RHL 6.2 machine. To solve that, I
stopped exporting the cdrom and all was dandy. Could that be your problem?

HTH,

Thomas

P.S.: Minor nitpick, not to be taken too seriously: "6.2 Linux" doesn't
exist. "Red Hat Linux 6.2" does. The only reason I mention this (even
though we *are* on a Red Hat list) is that many people out there will
hit the roof when terms like this are used, as they (rightly, IMO)
point out that Red Hat Linux is "a" Linux, but Linux does not equal
      Red Hat.
