Hello all,

I'm having a few problems with a cheapo 14" monitor that I've got. The
display is very dark, and when viewing some dark colour combinations it's
very hard to see the differences in colour - a good example, it's almost
impossible to see the buttons in the default XMMS theme, although I've now
changed it to a lighter theme.

A quick trawl on google for turned up a program called xgamma, so I tried
running it and:

[tom@mintsauce tom]$ xgamma -gamma 3.0
Xserver is running an old XFree86-VidModeExtension version (0.8)
Minimum required version is 2.0

Any ideas? I'm not fully sure what the error message is about! Is there
an alternative way for putting up the gamma correction
on the display?

Two final points, yes I have played with the controls on the front of the
monitor. Also, the monitor is dark in windows, but I was able to get a
utility to correct this. I know it is the monitor because swapping for a
different (higher quality) one fixes this problem.

Thanks in advance,

Tom
