Definitly something strange going on here.  You say this is a 6.2
machine, but the issue.net file is saying it is a 6.0 system.  Also, the
stock kernel on a 6.2 system is 2.2.14-5.0, not 2.2.5-15.  Did you
update a 6.0 system with 6.2 rpms?  Also, did you upgrade the kernel,
but not edit /etc/lilo.conf and run lilo after you did this?

It almost sounds like something was running using an old library that
had been upgraded, but was still around because it was still in use
untill you rebooted.  I am just guessing here, untill you give us more
information.

Try running rpm -Va, and see what it complains about.  Also, check
/etc/inittab and your init scripts to see if anything strange is going
on.
