You are better off upgrading to 6.2, instead of trying to upgrade just
part of 5.2.  You do not have to wipe your disk and start over - the 6.2
install offers an upgrade option that will update the packages you are
using.  You will probably have to check the for different config files,
but the installer will save the old config with an .rpmsave extension.

The installer will also install some libs so that you will be able to
run probrams compiled to run on 5.x, and the older glibc.  It is a
fairly painless way to go.  It is difinitly less of a problem then the
things you may break by updating just the kernel and glibc.  You can
pick up a 6.2 CD at Cheap Bytes....
