Hi all,

Is there a port of the standard BSD 'vacation' program that
works with RedHat Linux 6.2 and sendmail?

I have found two versions, but neither of them work ...

The first one (which I forgot the name or location of) only
gave me a coredump in the user's home directory. At the
time I thought it had something to do with the libraries.

The last one I tried was 'vacation-1.2.0-1.i386.rpm' from:

 ftp://ftp.redhat.com/redhat/redhat-6.2-en/powertools/i386/i386/

Right now the .forward file contains:
\bogus, "|vacation bogus"

Which is what 'vacation' put there when I ran it without any
arguments. I also tried the commands listed in the man page.

Email sent to this "bogus" account gets the following returned:

: The original message was received at Fri, 30 Mar 2001 10:54:55 -0600
: from msc@localhost
:
: ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
: "|vacation bogus"
: (expanded from: [EMAIL PROTECTED])
:
: ----- Transcript of session follows -----
: sh: vacation not available for sendmail programs
: 554 "|vacation bogus"... Service unavailable

Any clues, hints, insight, pointers?

Mike
