Hi - I have 3 RH 6.2 servers networked in the following manner:
+-- eth0 -- [file server] ------- eth1 --> LAN
|
-- ppp0 -- [firewall] -- eth0 --<
|
+--- eth0 -- [internet server] -- eth1 --> LAN
I have file server mounting the firewall and internet server via NFS,
and use the file server to perform nightly backups to DAT.
I'm seeing some strange network slowness which is affecting
connections to the firewall from the other servers. When copying a
file from the file server to the firewall over NFS I only get a
throughput of about 5Kb / Sec (if I'm lucky) over a 10BaseT
connection.
I just tried to do a test copying a file from the firewall to a
server using scp but received an error:
Received disconnect: Command terminated on signal 11.
I tested scp between the other servers and it works fine... there's
no such problems between the file server and the internet server, but
both have problems communicating with the firewall - so I'm pretty
sure it's the firewall at fault...
Following are some stats for the firewall machine... I was hoping
that someone may be able to point me in the direction of a process to
troubleshoot this situation and work out what's going on. Note that
this slowness does not only affect NFS - although we don't really
notice it since the most of the traffic this machine sees is ipchains
firewall / masqueraded traffic over a 56K link.
