I don't have any solutions, sorry. What I can add is that I have a compaq
4-way SMP 700 MHZ Xeons and 2 Gig of RAM. Red Hat 7.0 with kernel 2.4.0 is
running fine.

Subject: Compaq Smp blues?

Hi list,

I am trying to get the smp going on prolient dl360 server with two RAM
and two 866MHZ cpu's .

First when linux was installed with only one cpu and after that second
cpu was added.

I tried to compile the smp kernel but reboot's inthe middle .

Also i find the same problem with all prosignia and prolient server
models in the net.

I even tried booting through the Linux cd and check the /proc/cpuinfo it
did'nt recgnise the second cpu.

But on a Dell 1550 server after booting through the cd scond cpu is
identified.

Also we have a 8 cpu box with 8 gb ram running smoothly (wipro)

I think the problem is with bios .

I searched thouh the compaq site with no luck.

Please any body help if you have come across the same.

Also any pointers to solve the problem is welcome.
