Even though Ashleys comment was short and could be interpreted as harsh,
it was still indirectly very helpful for you. I'll explain how:
You said: "...if the HTML bothers you, filter it out."
You'd be surprised if you knew how many people on this list actually do
exactly that. If you send your mail to the list without HTML, you will
reach a much broader audience and your chances of getting quality help
from competent people will drastically increase.
