Sounds like a hard disk that *could* be going. Whenever I see these
messages, there's usually either an interface problem or a bad drive.
You could use "fsck.ext2 -f" on the partition(s) on that disk, but you
might want to so a low level scan for problems. I don't have any leads on
low-level or surface scanning proggies.. but I'm sure someone else will
jump in and make a good suggestion. Any scanning you do should be done
while the disk is not in use (all related partitions unmounted). If you do
things while the partitions are mounted, you risk data corruption
(ignoring the fact that you have the problem that you are having).
