Yes.  I have a USB printer working with 2.2.18.

If you are using something like loadlin, then you have to copy the new
kernel to your Windows partition.

If you go with a SCSI CD-RW, then it depends on the SCSI card you
install.  If you go with an IDE CD-RW, then you will not need an alias
for the SCSI card, but you have to add a statment for IDE-SCSI in your
lilo.conf or loadlin setup.  I like SCSI CD-RWs better, but they do cost
more.
