Although not specific to your problem, Mark, I would just like to
provide a counterpoint: I upgraded to 7.0 from 6.1 on one of my linux
boxes yesterday and I have never had an easier install. ALL my hardware
was picked up and configured properly by the installer. It then became a
matter of extracting any wanted userland proggies and the 2.4.0
kernel/modules from the tar archive I had made before the install,
upgrading to XFree 4.0.2 (BTW, I find it easier to understand what
exactly is happening with your X install if you go to the XFree site and
download the tar files and installer yourself rather than rely on the
rpms), and then hitting up2date to upgrade everything from RH. One happy
camper here.
