Newer versions of lilo support booting off a partion > 1024 cylinders. Hi
sbest bet would be to boot off a linux boot disk (you did make a boot
disk right?), and upgrade lilo, then run lilo.

But as Sam says, make sure it is setup to install on the mbr. using the
-v switch on lilo can help verify it's running ok.
