Yes. You should probably look for their version of Red Hat Linux 7 though,
it has many more improvements.

It's a different distribution. Picking your distribution is mostly a
question of taste.
Since you're on a Red Hat list, you'll probably want to get the Red Hat
version. ;)

mkdir /mnt/something
Try mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /mnt/something

Linux doesn't distinguish files by extensions. Executables are files that
are marked with the executable flag in the filesystem. (Try reading the
manual for chmod, "man chmod").
Linux doesn't run EXE and COM files natively, but you can run them. dosemu
can run DOS (http://www.dosemu.org/) executables, WINE
(http://www.winehq.com/) will let you run Windows programs. The emulation
is not yet perfect; some applications won't run at all, some applications
will run, but show weird behavior. Most applications will currently work
well. (You probably won't need them though - Linux has a lot of good
native applications.)
You can download daily CVS snapshots of wine for Red Hat Linux 7 (note:
you need to run Red Hat Linux 7, not 5.0 or 6.2, to use these binaries) at
