Well, I have an ISA modem KTX 33.6 based on
Rockwell
chip set RCV336 ACF/SVD and Crystal Sound card
CS4239
and I have been struggling for two days to make it
work together. First of all the modem is non
standard
serial port, (COM3 IRQ5) so have the non standard
serial port enable in kernel and run setserial )
 Put
 together the modem and sound card, if run win98 ;
windowz can not set the sound card, if run RedHat,
 it
will switch the IRQ of modem to 0 and still can be
used. BUT the speed is terribly slow (~1 kb/s) . I
think I will make the sound card works too. (i
 have
not done that any way, just use isapnp ...) but I
dont like the speed like that, then I removed the
sound card. Linux will use irq 5 for modem and the
speed is high. (about 4 to 5kb/s ok with 33.6 and my
 isp..)
Is there any way to set it? I know the sound card
has MPU (some thing forgot the number ) compatible
and
it uses IRQ 5; so that is why Linux has to set the
modem to IRQ 0 but it is not good the the speed..
 Thanks you very much
