If it has to work well on the first try and you have a decent budget, VA
Linux or Penguin Computing would be your best bet.  I'd recommend VA
Linux, since I have some of their #@$%@#% stock.  Not that I'm biased or
anything.:-)

If you want to save a few dollars with the chance that something could
go wrong, build it yourself or have a knowledgeable friend build it for
you (that's what I do, since I'm a klutz with hardware).  For desktop
systems, I'd say that's the ONLY way to go -- you just get way more
flexibility.  For servers it's probably worth buying from the dedicated
Linux companies.
