This is the package to install the DNS server/daemon (named). You
probably don't need it at all, especially if you are using other servers
to resolve names. Check your "/etc/resolv.conf" file.

This other one install the NIS service. NIS allows you to synchronize
certain files (especially the "/etc/passwd") over the network. If you're
using NFS and need users other than root to access their NFS mounted home
partitions or something like that (it doesn't sound as if this is your
case), then you will definitely need this package.

Installs certain utilities such as usermount or userpasswd that allow
regular users to perform some activities like mounting or unmounting
filesystems, etc. You may not need this either.

It installs the "/bin/mail" program, which is used sometimes by shell
scripts or Perl scripts to send email. You may want to reconsider this
one, although it depends on the use you make of scripts.

Isn't this the scheme language? I don't think you'll need this one.

Definitely, if you don't need printing you can also uninstall this one.

Oh, yeah! That one! I suppose you can also uninstall it. It's pretty
careless and it gives this "oops" messages every now and then. Heheheee.
In any case, if you need more information about any package make sure
you run the 'rpm -qi [packagename]' command to obtain more information
about it. For example: rpm -qi usermode.
