I upgraded from 6.2 last night to 7.0 using respin images. I have the boxed
set but I used respin to have the latest. The upgrade went fine with no
errors. However, when the system rebooted their is a failure.

Hopefully the following messages are relevant :
SCSI: 0 hosts SCSI: detected total
...
VFS: cannot open root device 08:12
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:12

I don't understand how the new kernel can't find the SCSI controller, if
that is actually the problem, when the upgrade program could. I have an
Adaptec A2940U2W controller with an all SCSI system.

I can boot using 'linux single' but the drive is mounted read only. I
noticed
that LILO has read only for both linux and linux-up. Relevant?

I am in a bit of a hot spot here because the files for a church and another
non-profit agency reside on the box. I do have a complete backup made with
BRU. I can't boot with the old kernel (2.2.17) either. I will not review
that
problem for brevity unless requested.

TIA,
Ken Swinton
