You may want to check in on the samba-users mailing list. There has been a
fair amount of discussion as of late regarding what is viewed in the samba
logs as "write_socket_data" errors. It was noticable by "network is busy"
error messages, failed logons, etc. In fact, I was experiencing them on
[only] one of my servers.
Someone there pointed out how they had fixed their problem, and following
his advice, I also was relieved of the plague.
For some reason, named (which is operating on these servers) was trying to
resolve reverse-DNS lookup for private IP addresses on the local network
via the default route. (No reverse DNS file had been created for the
private IP addresses.) Once that in-addr.arpa file was created for the
local private IP addresses, the write_socket_data error disappeared.
Maybe this doesn't help you, but it might...
