To the best of my knowledge, there is a program called automount that does
most of this for you. In point of fact, while running the standard rh X
desktop system, put a cd in the cdrom and watch it mount and show it for
you. As to an autorun file, I have seen a number of cd's do this for me by
simply putting the cd into the drive. I haven't bothered checking it out
specifically, but it does indeed work. First automount mounts the cd, then
the file is run. Try man autofs and man automount for a few more details.
