One thing you may have to add to your /etc/lilo.conf file is:
disk=/dev/sda
bios=0x80
This tells LILO that your SCSI drive is the first drive that your BIOS
sees. After adding the new IDE card, and the new kernel, did you get any
error messages or warnings when you ran LILO? Usualy LILO will complain
when you have a mix of IDE and SCSI drives, and you are booting from a
SCSI drive. LILO has no way to tell what order your BIOS numbers the
drives, so it defaults to IDE first, as this is correct most of the time.
